My father in prescribed BYSTOLIC 5 mg 1 tablet twice a day; hold if sbp is less than 140 and heart rate is less than 60 and COZAAR 25 MG 1 tablet twice a day; hold if sbp is less than 160 and heart rate is less than 60 still not controlled. i was wonder if Bystolic is replaced with Amlodipine. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Bystolic (nebivolol) is a beta blocker and a good choice in hypertension treatment.
Amlodipine is another effective treatment used in hypertension. It doesnt replace bystolic. It can be added in the actual therapy for better treatment.
Your father can take bystolic 5 mg 1/2 tablet twice daily, amlodipine 5 mg 1 tablet once daily and cozaar 25 mg twice daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
