General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on the symptoms described, an infection is likely though it is not clear whether it is a viral or bacterial infection.
Only bacterial infections would require antibiotics.

The use of antibiotics in viral infections can result in antibiotic resistance.

Most sorethroats, coughing and other cough and cold symptoms are related to viral infections. Fever can also occur in viral infections as well.
If the fever or sore throat last more than 3 days then it is more likely bacterial and then antibiotics are needed.

If the symptoms started only a few days ago, then it is likely viral and treatment would consist of rest, fluids, pain medication and cough suppressants/antihistamine combination.

I hope this helps
