Is Amoxicillin The Right Medicine For Strep Throat?

My granddaughter has been diagnosed with strep throat. Completed a course of amoxicillin, but still has strep and today was started on Omnicef by the doctor. Now she has a rash on her cheek, eyes, and itch/burning tongue. My daughter thinks she might have scarlet fever or an allergy to the antibiotic. My granddaughter is also on a low dose antibiotic all the time for urinary tract reflux (she is 4 1/2 years old). What should I advise my daughter to do?

thnaks for posting your query to hcm . Amoxicilline is a good antibiotic but bacteria can develop resistance to anibiotics hence we should always use antibiotic after its sensitivity testing . I suggest you to go for culture and sensitivity examination of throat swab and urine . It will guide you about cause of infection and its antibiotic sensitivity profile . it
