Is Andepra And Garcinia Cambognia A Safe Combination?

I am currently taking the antidepressant Andepra and have been given Garcinia Cambognia to help with weight loss and energy levels, is this a safe combination? I have been on Andepra for about 2 years, they are 60mg tablets. The garcinia is a 5000 with 80% calcium HCA. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If taken together it may cause manic symptoms and liver damage hence they should not be taken together. Garcinia cambognia is promoted to be an effective weight loss medication however there is no clinical study done to prove its efficacy in reducing the body weight. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration has warned everyone to stop using a weight-loss product that contained Garcinia cambogia because of the risk of severe liver damage some people have developed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
