Is Aspirin Safe During Pregnancy?

Hi, I m 22 years old, yesterday I found out I m pregnant (4w5d). I had a miscarriage last year in April at 10 weeks and the cause was probably thrombophilia, heterozygot FV Leiden. I was on Lovenox from the end of 7th week. Also, I had a blood clot due to contraception pills when I was 18. Should I start my therapy right away, or wait till the heartbeat? I m afraid that it ll be too late, but my Dr won t prescribe me before confirmation that the pregnancy is vital. What do you think about taking baby aspirin? Can it help me until I get my heparin therapy? I have an appointment on Monday, should I wait until then?

Hello,

Generally, aspirin isn't recommended during pregnancy unless you have certain medical conditions. Low-dose aspirin — 60 to 100 milligrams (mg) daily — is sometimes recommended for pregnant women with recurrent pregnancy loss, clotting disorders, and preeclampsia.

I suggest you continue low dose aspirin until you visit your doctor.
