Is Azithromycin Advisable For A Child With Ear Infection?

My son just turned 13 and still gets ear infections when the weather changes. I have Azithromycin 250 mg over a 5 day period. He usually gets a liquid Amoxicillian from his pediatrician, but it does not seem strong enough for him anymore. He is over 120 pounds and my question is would it be safe to give it to him or should I not? I am nervous but he may need the strength of something stronger and it was my antibiotic that I had filled but never used. Thank you!

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if your son has an ear infection he can be given Azithromycin as it is also a potent antibiotic and will probably treat ear infection..
But my suggestion would be that you should never use any antibiotic without proper evaluation with the specialist so that he can decide the dose depending upon requirement..
He can also avise antibiotic ear drops and decongestants..
In case if amoxicillin is not working you can also give him amoxicillin in combination with clavulanic acid as it will increase the potency of amoxicillin and it will act better..
