General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin) is a type of immunotherapy that is commonly used to treat early-stage bladder cancer. It is administered directly into the bladder through a catheter and works by stimulating the immune system to attack cancer cells.
BCG may be temporarily unavailable due to manufacturing or supply chain issues, but this is something that your doctor should be able to provide more information on. They may be able to suggest alternative treatments or refer you to another provider who has access to BCG.
It is important to discuss the potential benefits and risks of any treatment with your doctor, as well as any concerns you may have about availability or accessibility. In some cases, there may be alternative treatments or clinical trials that are available and could be considered as an option.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
