Is Buscopan A Safe Drug For Glaucoma Patient?

Hi Doctor Rynne My mother is 100 years old & was in the hospital for 3 months. She has gall stones & they will not operate on her. I was told about Buscopan, but she has glaucoma.. Is this drug okay for her to take? Hoping to hear from you Thanks Nadia

Hello
As you mentioned that your mother is having GLAUCOMA and she is also having gall bladder stone , for which she is admitted in the hospital for surgery .
She advised to take BUSCOPAN i.e. hyoscine .
This drug HYOSCINE is CONTRAINDICATED for narrow angle glaucoma , if your mother is a patient of narrow angle glaucoma , this drug will not suit .
So consult your doctor and take another drug as pain killer .
Good luck for surgery.
