Is Ceftriaxone Advisable To Prevent Lyme S Disease Post Insect Bite?
Do I need ceftriaxone to prevent getting Lyme dz? I was bitten by a tick 2 days ago. There was a nickel sized half moon circle around the bite immediately after removal of the head and body. Hours later, a tender red 20 mm circle appeared. Today it is almost non tender and only slightly red in a dime sized area. Thank you, Jan Morgan

ceftriaxone is not recommended for Lyme disease prophylaxis.you can use doxycycline .for prophylaxis 200 mg doxycycline single dose is needed.for treatment course is 2 weeks.
