Is Ciprofloxacin Safe For A Person With Penicillin Allergy?

My Doctor will be doing a biopsy on bone in one of my toes post Hammertoe surgery. If bacterial infection exists, she may prescribe Ciprofloxacin. I'm allergic to penicillin and have had reactions to high dosages of Doxycycline. Do you see any issue such a prescription might pose?
Thanks.

Hello,
I understand and appreciate your question.

Brief Answer: Ciprofloxacin has no cross-sensitivity to penicillin.
Detailed Answer:
Cross sensitivity is defined as sensitivity to one substance that renders an individual sensitive to other substances of similar chemical structure.
Ciprofloxacin does not have a similar chemical structure with penicillin, therefore we can say with certainty that Ciprofloxacin has no cross-sensitivity to penicillin.
