Is Clonazepam Recommended For Tinnitus?
I have been prescribed clonazepam .5 mg for ringing in my ears, which I ve experienced for 2 months, caused by the sounds of 4 gunshots, with no hearing protection worn. Seems like a lot of possible side effects. Is the medication worth trying for my condition. I am 71 and in excellent health, except for B.p medication and crestor for cholesterol. I d rather have the ear ringing than many of the possible side effects.

Treatment of tinnitus is usually given when it is interfering with daily sleep and routine daily activities.Treatment involves prescription of medications that can modulate the complex pathways in brain.Clonazepam is a commonly prescibed drug for tinnitus.The most commom side effect reported is somnolence.At the usual dose of .5mg night it is a safe drug.Individuals with hepatic/renal disease caution is advised.
