Is CoQ10 Effective In The Treatment Of Diarrhea?

I have been taking CoQ10 in the liquid form. I use it to control diarheea, that I associate with taking prilosec for stomach acid for the past 10 years. However, nothing on the WWW says that CoQ10 has anthing to do with controlling the diareha, except that CoQ10 can affect certain chemical processes. I used to use a large dose but aftera 1 year I began reducing the dose because too much CoQ10 actually causes constipation. Now, I have much, much less diareah, and when I need the CoQ10 I take a very, very small amout, basically is fill the cap about 1/4 full. That s all I need.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Not really. As you said, it's mainly for some basic chemical reaction, for which it requires. For diarrhea, you should take medication, like Sporlac, Racecadotril. If you have severe diarrhea, then Loperamide can be taken upon doctor's suggestion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
