Hello,
Thank you for your query.
If your ankle is swollen and you can't put any weight on it, a
fracture (even a hairline one must be ruled out).
I recommend :
- a physician consult right away (if it is a fracture, the sooner it is treated, the lesser the pain and recovery time/complications).
-x-rays of the ankle
-elevation of the hurt leg above hip level. Make sure your whole leg is elevated and supported, not just your ankle.
-apply ice pack right for about 15 minutes (wrap is a this cloth)
-yes, anti inflammatory will help but I suggest
etoricoxib (90mg) instead. Please consult your doctor if you have any other medical issues like
gastritis or
asthma before taking any pain medications.
If there is a fracture, treatment will depend on where it is and its severity.
If there is no fracture, rest, pain killers, anti inflammatory meds & gels, leg elevation, hot packs for reducing pain and ice packs for reducing inflammation (used and hour apart) will help you recover soon.
Don't strain too much. If swelling increases, then you are doing too much.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Hope you feel better soon
