Is Deriphyllin Advisable For Persistent Cough And Congestion In A Child?

My son is 7 yrs 9 months, suffering from constant coughing, have congestion in chest & throat. After visiting our regular paeditrician who has given antibiotics but did not see any positive effect, checked with another paeditrician who has given DERIPHYLIN...He is little asthmatic also...Would Deriphylin, which is a steroid be harmful for him ?

hi..first of all deryphyllin is not a steroid drug..
it is theophyllin which is bronchodilator used in asthma , chronic bronchitis...
so in your case it is helfull in resolving difficulty in bteathing..
for cough if it is dry TUSQ - D syrup is helpfull
if it is productive TUSQ syrup is helpfull..
antibiotic course must be completed given by your peadiatrition..
