Is Diclofenac Advisable While Allergic To Aspirin?

My husband is allergic to aspirin. He once took Contact for a cold and his face swelled up. We did not know it contained aspirin. He is about to have cataract surger next week. He was prescribed an eye drop diclofenac to be taken on the previous day 4 xs . The Pharmacist said it is related to NSAID drugs. I have left mssg for Surgeon but am concerned we do not have anything that would counteract an allergy reaction. should he proceed with this?

Hi and thankyou for asking on HCM!
I read carefully the concern of you husband and I am sorry for that!
Diclofenac and aspirin are of the same family, AINSD, and the probability that your husband has an allergy from diclofenac is 25%!
So I recomend to you , not to use it, especially that you haven't anything at your home to use in case of allergy.
Better to be safe!
I'm sure that the surgeon will give you something else for the eye.
I wish a fast recovery of your husband and that my answer has been helpful!
