Is Duphaston Necessary During 26th Week Of Pregnancy?
HI doc, Im 36 years old this coming JULY26,im 4 11.My 1st pregnancy are all normal.He s now 3years old boy.Now its my 2nd pregnancy,Im 26 weeks pregnant,my ob doc advises me to take duphaston,but everytime i take duphaston,my baby inside my tummy is always moving or kicking.I have a low lying placenta,she advises me also to take rest(bedrest) till my due date(July31 or Aug1,2011).My question is DO I NEED TO TAKE DUPHASTON though im 26 weeks pregnant?Thanks for your answer.
Yes duphaston is a wonderful formulation as it has dydrogesterone which is progesterone and thus helps in supplementing placental function and thus preventing preterm labor. It is also the best tolerated progesterone out of all other formulations. If it is making you very nauseated then you can take it with meals and avoid taking large amounts of liquids along. If your doctor has prescribed then you must take. Take complete bed rest. take balanced and healthy diet. Continue taking your supplements. Avoid exertion or strenuous work.
