Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Am a 23 year old female. 6 months back my ESR level was 50, and now it has come down to 28.. Though I have read in many articles that ESR is a non specific test and increased levels are either due to inflammations or malignancies, I would further like to know how to detect if I am affected by inflammations or malignancies? I hadnt been following any specific diet, because of which the ESR has come down..However, could you suggest any methods to reduce ESR levels?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have rise in ESR levels around elevated which could be due to chronic inflammation in body. Its not necessary the malignancies. Raised ESR itself is not a disease rather it is associated with underlying systemic diseases. . It indicates level of infection in body, once infection will be subsided it will come back to normal. Certain pathological conditions such as anemia, polycythemia, tuberculosis and autoimmune disease could be the cause for raised this. In your case it seems to be due to iron deficiency anemia. I would suggest you to take diet rich in iron. Get blood tests redone after every one month. Visit general physician once and get reports examined. Take carrot juice, spinach. Drink plenty of water. Visit orthopaedician once and get it examined and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
