General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It sounds like your child has gastroenteritis, in which case I would normally only recommend using Emeset if the child has signs of dehydration, such as decreased urine output, crying but no tears, or appears dry inside the mouth.

If you are concerned about dehydration, I would make sure a doctor sees him first to see if he needs IV fluids, but if the dehydration is only mild, I will sometimes give Emeset, dosed based on his weight at 0.15 mg/kg. I would normally only give one dose to help with nausea and vomiting, which should improve within a few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
