Is Fentanyl Patch Effective In The Treatment Of Knee And Hip Pain?

My bff has back and knee and hip pain but was told she cannot take Percocet or Norco. Dr. has her on 78tramadol which is not working and she is walking the floors of her apt bldg. all night for relief. I was thinking perhaps Fentanyl patches with or without Cymbalta. She is 78, has diet controlled diabete and is relatively healthy and very vvery strict with her food intake and exercises every day. What do you think abut the meds I suggested?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sorry to hear about her pain. Pain relief is important. If she has tried tramal.

And that's not working, your idea is fine. We need to. First, see the cause of pain, but if opioids are not working, gabapentin, pregabalin, etc may be a good choice. However, she must be properly seen assessed for the same. She may see the pain clinic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
