Is Flagyl Advisable For Gastrointestinal Infection?

My daughter is being treated with Flagyl for C-diff and has been hospitalized for 18 days now. If C-diff is caused by too much antibiotics as in her case, a gastrointestinal infection which left an open wound that could not be closed, is this the best medicine for her treatment?
