Hello,

Flexeril is what we call a central acting muscle relaxant and does have a lot of sedation and other side effects with it, now using this for arthritis can still be done and it is effective however other relaxants like Skelaxin or Robaxin might be more beneficial.

Even over the counter Valerian Root 400mg twice daily is somewhat effective here. I try to avoid Flexeril, mainly because while helpful the dose needed for significant relief for arthritis muscle relaxation causes more sedation than benefit.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
