Is Fluconazole Effective In Treating Severe Acne?

I am a 79 year old man with acne problems on my neck, chest and upper back. This has hung around for years but its worse now than it has been. My dermatologist gave me 3 fluconazole tablets to take a week apart and that s all. Is this some kind of new remedy?

You might be misinterpreting fungal infection with acne because your dermatologist has given fluconazole which is used to treat fungal infection. Acne usually occurs in face and is seen usually in adolescence. Your dermatologist must not be wrong. If you have doubts about diagnosis then take second opinion from a different doctor.
Advice
1.     Continue fluconazole as suggested by your dermatologist
2.     Keep your chest, neck and groin area clean and dry
3.     You can use ketoconazole dusting powder also
4.     Do not scratch
5.     Take high protein diet such as eggs and cheese to boost immunity
6.     Investigation – blood sugar (fasting & postprandial)
I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question
Thanks
