Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, i have been comsuming alchohol for more than 10 years now, and my ggt level is 170 right now and my sgpt level is 160. I have quit drinking for 15 days now. How much longer will i need to abstain from drinking to get my enzymes back to normal levels? And what can i do apart from quitting alchohol consumption to reduce ggt and sgpt levels?
GGT level of 170 is not that much high and does not cause any problems. But you have to avoid substances that will harm your liver like alcohol. An ultrasound abdomen is also required as a routine investigation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
