Is GTT Level Of 430 A Cause For Concern?

Hi, I m 55, 5 5 , 168 lbs. female. My AST is 102 and ALT is 56. 6 months ago, my GTT was 635. I went to my dr., he told me to stop drinking for a week, I did, went back and GTT was 430. I just had it checked and it was 1495- I saw where normal is 60. My doctor told me to stop drinking for 2 months and come back. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

The following conclusions can be inferred based on the biochemical investigations report you have furnished. Liver enzymes AST and ALT levels are showing high, which means that there is hepatocellular damage. GGT is an inducible enzyme, which increases upon alcohol intake. Increased levels above normal indicate alcoholic liver damage.

The levels of GGT you have mentioned seem to be very high and fluctuating, which needs serious consideration. You need to quit alcohol completely. Or else you will land up in complications like cirrhosis of liver and liver failure.
