Is Gabapentin Effective In The Treatment Of Shingles?

I have Gabapentin 100 milligrams taking for shingles. I took one pill about 5 hours ago and fell asleep as it dulls the pain. I cannot sleep as of about 3:00 AM due to shingle pain. I do not have to get up in the morning . Is it safe to take a pill now? YYYY@YYYY

Gabapentin can be taken 300 mg daily in three divided doses for herpetic neuropathy.Hence 100 mg can be repeated 8 hours after the first dose.
