Is Geodon A Good Substitute For Other Antidepressant Drugs?

I was just put on Geodon, the reason being is that regular anti-depressants, Prozac, Cymbalta actually cause me to think about killing myself. I suffer from Fibromyalgia, anxiety disorder, and very mild depression. My mood swings are not age appropriate as well as I get very irritated easily. Do you think this is a good drug for me? The only side effect so far is lethargy.

Hi,

Geodon, being an antipsychotic agent, is not a first line antidepressant. But it has been shown to have antidepressant activity as well. So, in your case, when other first line agents have not worked, Geodon can be considered as an option. It will also help in controlling your mood swings.

Best wishes.
