Is HIV Transmission From Sexual Intercourse Three Years Ago Possible?
Hello Doctor, I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend s friend about 5 times before going out with my girlfriend. I m not sure of her HIV status now, but she has a new boyfriend now and seems fine. I got tested negative for HIV before sleeping with her. I have now been with my girlfriend for almost 3 years. My girlfriend does not have HIV now and she is pregnant with our child. Is there any chance that I have HIV from this encounter 3 years ago? Thank you.

Let us go into details of the history. You had sex with your girl friend's friend ,some 3 years ago who has had more than one partner. You got tested negative before you had sex with that lady and after that you did not had tested for HIV . In between you marry your girl friend who is now pregnant and has tested negative .So indirectly we can say that you are HIV negative but to be sure you should too go for HIV testing as per protocol
