Is HIV Transmission Possible Despite Protected Intercourse?

Hi, I am very scared . I was told that as long as I use a condom and it don’t break or fall if I’m an no susceptible to hiv. I always had protected sex but I have been with a few prosititues. I am not proud of my behavior and will never do this again in my life . How much at risk am I ? I never had any of the early symptoms. I recently got back with my wife and I have a daughter this would be my world if I contracted something . Help me please

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There is very less chances of HIV if you have had protected sex. There are certain Criteria that are to be present for HIV contraction, like HIV positive person with high viral load, contact of HIV infected body fluids.

Some people have the mutation in co-receptor gene which resists the infection from occurring even though they have been in contact with an HIV positive, CCR5mutation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
