Is H.pylori A Contagious Disease?

My husbands doctor called and said that he had a bacteria in his stomach. I asked if it was from the hpylori test and they said yes. They said he had to come in for medication and that I should also be tested. Why can t they call the medication in, the office is not close. And why do I need to be tested?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare

H pylori treatment requires 3 medications taken over 10 days to 2 weeks. It would be difficult to precisely say why they need him to come in personally.

They may want to explain the nature of the condition , medication needed, possible side effects and follow up after treatment.

H pylori is a highly prevalent in most populations, so they likely want to test to make sure that you do not need treatment as well

I hope this helps
