Is IV Drugs Safe For Ischaemic Heart Attack?

Hi, I have diagnosed heart disease. A family condition. I had an ischaemic heart attack at 46 resulting in a stent to RCA. I have recently started using IV drugs recreationally. I am currently 56. My blood pressure is normally low. 100/70. I enjoy the recreational use. Please advise. After use my blood pressure increases to 125/95.

You have not mentioned which drug you are using for recreational purpose. There are many drugs used intravenously for recreational purpose such as heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine etc. Effect depends upon type of drug used. But all such drugs have deleterious effect on heart like cardiac arrhythmia, coronary ischemia especially in patient with ischemic heart disease, aggravation of angina, fluctuation of blood pressure, heart attack and sometimes sudden death due to cardiac arrest. Besides these, possible risks associated with injecting any drug are: risk of transmission of HIV if sharing needles, skin infection from injecting, collapsed veins, and poisoning due to chemicals which may be added to the drug by dealers.
Advice
1.     Stop immediately IV drug abuse for recreational purpose. Sudden withdrawal may cause withdrawal symptom, so go to a de-addiction center
2.     Do not share needle with any person
3.     Involve yourself in productive activities
4.     Take help from your family and psychiatrist
Take care and I wish you a good health!
