Is IVIG Treatment Advisable For Guillain-Barre Syndrome?

I have been diagnosed with GBS after 9 weeks of onset. Now the neurologist wants to do the 5 day IVig treatment. Should I have it this late after the onset? I was misdiagnosed and did a 5 day course of IV solumedrol 1000mg per day about 4 weeks ago. HELP?

Dear friend, I have gone through your question..
According to the guidelines by American Academy of Neurology for the treatment of Guillain-Barre syndrome
- There is strong evidence in favour of IVIG treatment within two weeks of onset of neuropathic symptoms in non ambulant patients.
-There is good evidence in favour of IVIG treatment within four weeks of onset of neuropathic symptoms in non ambulant patients and within two weeks of onset of neuropathic symptoms in patients using walking aids.
So in this case scenario there will not be much benefit from this late IVIG therapy.
Thank you.
