Is Ibuprofen Safe To Be Taken For Recurrent Fever?

My daughter is 16, and came home yesterday with a fever of 102. I took her to the emergency room last night, but it was an awful experience and we ended up leaving. The tested her for flu at the hospital, but the test came back negative. Now, today her fever is 102.7. We are giving her ibuprofen to bring down the fever. That helped last night.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I assume they did an exam and concerning illnesses, such as meningitis, pneumonia, and strep have been ruled out? I know you left early, but I don't know what was or wasn't done there.

If they feel it was influenza, you can give her ibuprofen every 6-8 hours. Be sure she has some food in her stomach before each dose to help prevent stomach irritation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
