Is Implanon Recommend For A Patient With A History Of Depression?

Hi, I am researching different birth control methods for myself. I am interested in Implanon. However, I have a history of depression/bipolar disorder and I heard Implanon can cause or increase depression. Is this true? Would you recommend Implanon to someone in my situation?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the Implanon contains Etonorgestrel as contraceptive for many of the child bearing age women world wide with excellent results. There are no documentations that Implanon will cause more of depression episodes in any manner. Though there can be dizziness and headache in minor number of cases, a depression patient can use Implanon without any issues.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
