My wife is having 1 month pregnancy. She has taken Itraconazole 100 mg tab twice dailyX 3 days along with secnidazole 1 gm - 2 tabs, flucanazole 1 gm-1tab and azithromycin 150- 1 tab at a time. Is it safe for growing embryo or mother. Do you suggest for abortion? B. Mukhopadhyay

Hello and welcome.

Every medication taken during pregnancy has its risks, which is why doctors prescribe medications after weighing the risks versus benefits.

As for itraconazole, it does carry its risks but I am guessing your doctor is trying to treat an infection of which he/she does not know the source. Please discuss this further with your doctor, but I am sure all will be well ma'am. There have been no risks to the mother, although rare effects of the fetus.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
