Is Ketorol Advisable For Pain Relief In A Lactating Mother?

I had a decayed wisdom tooth which was giving me a lot of pain. Got it extracted 3 days back and since I am a breast feeding mother of a 6 month old my doctor has advised me Taxim-o 200mg for 3 days. The pain has not gone down. Is it safe to have Ketorol dt as it relieves pain very fast. Please advise?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your query use of Ketorol DT is limited in breast feeding mothers as it is excreted in milk and can be transferred from the mother to child..

Although whether it is harmful or not has limited data as trials have been conducted on rats and has been seen to cause post natal growth reduction..

So my suggestion would be not to take Ketorol DT on safety grounds and you are experiencing pain as you have been given only Taxim-O which is an antibiotic and you also need a painkiller to relieve pain..

You can take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for pain relief..

Gradually the pain will subside..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
