Is Levolin Safe In Treatment Of Cold And Wheezing In A Child?
Hi. My name is karthic. My 3yr old baby always suffers from continous cold n wheezing cough with mucus since she is 1 yr.. Almost once in a month.. Our pediatrician suggested nebulization with levolin when there is persistant cough n serflo inhaler as a continous medication.. Along with some cold n cough syrups when required.. Almost in all times this is same for these attacks...My question is..are there any sideeffects for this in long term? Is there a permanant cure?
It is possible that as she grows, she may experience less and less wheezing.
There are different triggers for wheezing, cough and cold is one of the most common triggers. Unfortunately, at her age, it is possible to have 6 to 10 colds a year but this would decrease as her immune system gets stronger.
The effects of untreated wheezing on the lung are worse than the effects of the medication but it may be possible to change the medication to reduce her chance of wheezing. Alternative meds can be used, you should consider consulting a pulmonologist for assessment- this is a doctor that deals specifically with the lungs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
