Is Losartan 150 Mg A Day Considered A High Dosage?

My doctor just told me to increase my Losartan to 150mg a day. I take 100mg in the morning and 50mg at night. Everything I have read says this might be too much dosage. My cardiologist is in his 70 s and just last visit had the incorrect chart for me. I had to tell him the chart was not mine. I am a bit concerned. Is 150 mg too high to take a day. I am almost 70 years old, female, 168 lbs. and only 5.1 . I also take 5mg Amlodipine and 10 mg Atorvastatin.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In my opinion if your blood pressure is not maintained under control with Losartan the dose should be increased. You can first check your blood pressure for a week and then increase the dose of Losartan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
