Is MRI Recommended After Having Total Hysterectomy For Cervical Cancer?
yes! hi, I wanna know if after a total hysterectomy for cervical cancer now doctor is saying that i need an MRI to check... my question is to check wha and if this is a normal prosedure? Is it possible that cancer spread and if it did what are my chances in fighting this? Im 27 years old and im trying to stay very positive
In cancer treatment, it is sadly always a possibility that it spreads even through radical surgery. The advice of your doctor is very sound, because it allows to watch for any symptoms of spreading of the disease, and if so then early treatment. It is standard to do regular scans after surgical treatment, because given your age you must have had advanced disease since they opted to do a total hysterectomy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Maria Riechel-Sarup, General & Family Physician
