Is MRI Scan Advisable For Pain And Swelling On The Head?

I hit the exposed corner of the frame of my bed and injured my tibia and just below the patella. I hit the floor very hard contacting my right side. I have severe neck pain and manageable head pain and moderate swelling all the way down to my right shoulder and right arm. I am taking over the counter and prescription strength analgesics. Applied cold pack as soon as the injury occurred and now warm pack and analgesics. Is my next option imaging? Thank you.

Hi,

An MRI can't diagnose migraines, cluster, or tension headaches, but it can help doctors rule out other medical conditions that may cause your symptoms, such as: A brain tumor. An infection in your brain, called an abscess. The buildup of fluid in the brain, called hydrocephalus.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
