Is Macrobid Effective In The Treatment Of Urinary Tract Infection?

I have contracted a urinary tract infection and my friend gave me Macrobid 52427-285 to take. I began last evening with one capsule and one again this morning and one again this evening. Is this going to be enough and should I go to a med station. I am visiting from out of state. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. You should rule out urinary tract infection by doing urine routine examination. Culture and sensitivity of urine also should be done. Macrobid can be started empirically. But it should be taken at least for one week. Take it only by the advise of your General practitioner. It can be changed if necessary after culture and sensitivity report. Take more plain water. Taking barley water or cranberry juice is also good.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
