Is Mckenzie Method The Right Treatment For Persistent Lower Back And Hip Pain?
I am having lower back pain for 2 weeks. At times is on my left hip and at times it moves toward the left back. I have no fractures according to an spine X ray and the left hip is ok. I have chronic changes in the lower spine. Is the Mckenzie method of therapy appropriate? I get relief from Aleve, heat and I can walk well.
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM Sorry to hear you are suffering from lower back pain. Different treatment options exist for back pain. Some of these options may include: different lines of pain drugs depending on pain intensity, myorelaxants, steroids ocassionally, physiotherapy and surgery in some cases. Many of these options may be used in combination for better results. Coming back to your question, Mckenzie method comprises a set of exercises that you can do on your own.You will however need to see a Physiotherapist to teach you these exercises. It may help control your pain. In the meantime, you may continue with Aleve. Hope this will help Wish you good health and feel free to write back if you need more help Regards
