Is Meftagesic Tablet The Right Medicine For Fever In A Child?
Hi doc. My son is 9 months old n having high fever since past 2 days. Am giving meftagesic ds 4 hourly in day as well as in night. And am giving ziprax twice a day. But his fever is not coming down. It high in head only. His head is very warm.can i give meftagesic fs in night also 4 hourly
i think it is better to stop meftagesic and show your child to your family physician . your child may be suffering from a viral fever. platelet count will be reduced in viral fevers. meftagesic is a non steroid anti inflamatory drug which has anti platelet action. so if you are giving this to a child with a viral fever or dengue fever it increases the risk of bleeding. so stop the drug , show your child to family physician. you can use paracetamol correct dose for the fever. may need to do a full blood count as fever continous for 2 days.
