Is Meftal P A Safe Medication For Infants?

hello doctor, my baby was getting the fever from last 4 days in the afternoon....and my PED suggested to use calpol 120mg...at that time the temp is coming down and again nxt day afternoon fever was coming....today mrng my PED suggested to use meftal-p dosage 3ml....my baby has 99.5 fever...is it ok if i use meftal syrup.....i was bit confused thanks in advance

Hi

Paracetamol is the first drug of choice for fever in children and most of the times,fever reduces with 2 or 3 doses of paracetamol syrup.

Whenever the temperature is very high-more than 100 or fever is not relieved with paracetamol,meftal syrup can be used.

Hence you can use meftal syrup to bring down the temperature and review again with your doctor for further management.

Since you have mentioned that your child is having fever for more than 3 days,it is essential to do blood investigations to identify the cause.
