Is Meprate Recommended In Case Of Missed Period?

hi.i missed my periods for the first time.my lmp was 6th jan.consulting a gynec i got ultrasound done, upt was negative.beta hcg was low(2.5).my gynaec suggested me to take meprate 10mg b.d. for 5 days.tis i ended on 23rd feb.its been 9 days ahead but still no signs of menses...wat can be the cause.plz help
