Is Methocarbamol As Effective As Soma?

I am used to taking Soma 350 mg which I am used to and prefer. Since the FDA no longer wants to prescribe my doctor prescribed Methocarbamol. How close are the two? Will it work just as well? I take two pain meds only for my back and neck problems. Soma seemed to work well, as long a I take with a meal, without side effects. I never have liked switching meds, especially when I m used to one I like.

There is no doubt that Methocarbamol is as effective as soma. moreover, Methocarbamol has got the following advantages compared to soma :

1) Very less abuse potential i.e; less dependence.
2) Cost effective
3) Withdrawal symptoms which are very likely to occur with sudden withdrawal of soma aren't seen with Methocarbamol. Let me also throw some light on the disadvantages of Methocarbamol:

1) Not advisable in ages 65yrs.
2) It causes drowsiness.so, its better to avoid driving when on medication. So, I shall conclude saying,you can go for Methocarbamol without any doubt about its efficacy.caution is needed as it causes drowsiness and can interfere in concentration related activities like driving.
