Is Methycobal Advisable During Pregnancy?

I have been taking Methylcobal 500g 3x a day for more than a month now due to a minor injury which affected my nerve reflex. I recently found out I am pregnant, about 5 weeks along. My OB said Methylcobal is safe for pregnant women, however she highlighted that no intake is better. Should I discontinue the intake or not?

Hi & Welcome.

Yes, Methylcobal tablets can be taken safely during pregnancy.

Tablet Methycobal which contains 500 micrograms of Methycobalamin is a derivative of Vitamin B-12 is not known to cause any harmful effects on the unborn baby hence can be taken safely during pregnancy.

Infact, Vitamin B12 along with Folic acid are routinely prescribed in early pregnancy to prevent neural tube defects in the unborn baby.

Hope these answer your queries.
