Is Minastrin Right Medication To Rectify Thick Uterine Lining?

I have painful heavy periods and have been experiencing irregular bleeding as well. My gyn did an ultrasound and said my uterine lining was 1.8cm. He gave me one month supply of Minastrin to flush me out. How is taking these birth control pills for one month going to get rid of excess buildup?

Hi,

Yes. Minastrin is a combination of norethindrone (a progesterone) and etinyl estradiol (an estrogen). Besides preventing an unwanted pregnancy, it maintains a very thin and flat uterine lining and thus prevents the excessive uterine bleeding. Continue to take it as prescribed.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
