Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, I am 29 yrs old and had abortion last february. After that I didnt have my period. So doctor suggested withdrawl bleeding. During examination my LH:FSH ratio was seen close to 3:1. Do I have PCOS? I took deviry for 5 days and stopped. Bleeding started after 4 days but it isn t stopping. I am also diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have been taking thyronorm 50 mg and metformin from last month. Recently doctor advised taking myocyst sachet. Is it for PCOS?
Your LH:FSH ratio of 3:1 does fall in the range that is suggestive of PCOS. Confirmation will be by ultrasound of the uterus and adnexa which may show polycystic ovaries.
Irregular menstrual bleeding is also caused by hypothyroidism for which you have correctly been prescribed treatment. It will take 3-6 weeks for thyroid functions to normalise after which your menses will be regular as before. If you are overweight, metformin as well as lifestyle changes will help.
Myocyst sachet is for treating anemia. Your doctor must have prescribed you for treating your anemia which may be caused by the bleeding. It is not used for polycystic ovarian disease as such.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr Geeta
