Is Natrilix Advisable Instead Of Telma To Reduce The SBP Level?

Hi.I am a hypertension patient. My BP has been staying under control at 150/70 and pulse at 65 with regular use of Amlopres AT 25. I had a bout of dengue on Sep 11 that lasted till Sep 15. I have recovered from dengue however my SBP has shot up to 170 to 190 with DBP staying in the range of 70 to 75. My doctor has put me on Nebistar SA (morning) and Telma 40 (evening) for last 4 days however it has no impact in controlling the SBP. Yet another doctor has suggested using a diuretic Natrilix 2.5 mg instead of Telma 40 to bring down SBP. I am confused what should I do. Please advise.

Hi,

There is no evidence that Natrilix is a better antihypertensive than Telma. It is just a matter of permutations and combinations to control BP. Your age and other comorbid conditions and cardiac reserves decide the choice of drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
