Is Neurontin Intake Safe While Having Liver Cirrhosis?

I m currently taking 2400 mg of nuroten a day. Is this a bad drug to be taking with ceroses (liver) problems? And how bad is klonopin for your liver? I am currently overwhelmed financially and overdrafted. My work status is not what it used to be since becoming ill. But, thank you for your time anyway.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Neurontin is Gabapentin and the drug is one of commonly used drugs for neuropathic pain conditions. The drug is also used in anxiety, seizures, in somatic symptoms, chronic pain conditions etc.

The drug is a safe drug and it is not associated with elevation in levels of liver enzymes (SGOT/SGPT). The evidence of liver damage while on this drug is rare. So the drug can be taken with caution in liver cirrhosis.

Klonopin is a benzodiazepine drug. The drug can be used in liver conditions in low doses. High doses of the drug should be avoided in liver damage. Take the drugs as per your prescription only.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care.
